Instead of embracing the infinite weekend buzz of pop country, Räisänen’s country is saddled with Nordic melancholy seasoned with echoes of Californian jangle and the poetry of Texan mystics rather than Nashville’s twang machine. What ties everything together, however, is the laid-back swing common to Räisänen’s hometown and vibrant music city Tampere.

”I see my music drawing mostly from the eclectic tradition of progressive country which then evolved into outlaw country and alternative country. But regardless of subgenres, it’s wonderful that country music is more and more becoming it’s own authentic form of musical expression in Finland instead of just a trendy gimmick”, Räisänen says.

The debut album Ghosts of Love comes out March 13 on CD and on streaming platforms through Tampere-based label Punaiset Levyt/Röda Skivor.
